      VIDEOHOLICA 2013 - INTERNATIONAL VIDEO ART FESTIVAL 6TH EDITION  [OUT OF FOCUS!] OPEN CALL FOR VIDEO ART 1 – 5 AUGUST 2013, VARNA, BULGARIA VIDEOHOLICA International Video Art Festival in Varna, Bulgaria starts the new open call for video art submissions for its 6th edition. The 6th VIDEOHOLICA will take place between 1st and 5th August 2013 in Varna, Bulgaria. The theme of VIDEOHOLICA 2013 is [OUT OF FOCUS!]. This year's VIDEOHOLICA festival will be composed of the following sections: video art, short films and animation. VIDEOHOLICA 2013 will again award the following prizes: First Prize – GOLDEN VIDEOHOLIC, Second Prize – SILVER VIDEOHOLIC, Third Prize – BRONZE VIDEOHOLIC, Award for young Bulgarian author – YOUNG VIDEOHOLIC. The 6th VIDEOHOLICA has a submission fee of EUR 10. VIDEOHOLICA 2013 will accept both regular mail applications as well as online applications.     Khoj invites applications from individuals, groups and teams, Indian and international, with proposals for gaming projects exploring the game-world and its experience from different perspectives. At least one of the team members must be an Indian citizen living in India.     SOMA - Residency Program 2013

    SOMA Summer 2013 will take place from July 01st to August 09th, 2013. Application deadline: Online applications will be accepted until Monday April 01st, 2013. However, the size of the group is limited to twenty-five participants. The application review process will begin Friday March 01st, 2013. Though not exclusively, workshops and seminars this summer will focus on the re-performance of history. Through examination of performance and its mediation (photo, video, and other forms of documentation), the group will explore the ways in which narrative, appropriation, fact/fiction and other devices simultaneously question and shape ideological subject positions both within individual and mass consciousness.     EVENT - PERFORMANCE RESIDENCY | Gasworks

    New call for applications for Gasworks’ first ‘event - performance’ residency, open to any non-UK based artist. This new residency aims to support the development of art practices that might not normally thrive within existing residency models. Applicants are invited to propose a series of exploratory works with public outcomes. We are looking for experimental practices, innovative and experimental approaches to contemporary performance, and proposals that question contemporary understandings of these terms.     HWP Program

      The Home Workspace Program (HWP) is an annual, interdisciplinary arts program launched by Ashkal Alwan in 2011. The program targets emerging artists who wish to develop their formal, historical, and critical skills and practice in a supportive environment in Beirut.     CALL FOR APPLICATIONS - CURATORIAL INTENSIVE

    Independent Curators International (ICI) and Bag Factory Artists' Studios announce the Curatorial Intensive in Johannesburg  Developed by Independent Curators International (ICI) in collaboration with the Bag Factory Artists’ Studios, the Curatorial Intensive: Contemporary Curatorial Practice will examine the pragmatics of organizing exhibitions, while addressing the specificities of curating in the African context. This week-long course will focus on exhibition development—from building working relationships with artists to the theoretical aspects of understanding how to turn a concept into a project—and explore key curatorial strategies for working in a range of exhibition spaces. Application Guidelines Applicants currently working in Africa will be eligible to participate in the Curatorial Intensive. To apply send a single PDF to misa@curatorsintl.org with JOHANNESBURG on the subject line. All applications must include a 300-word description of a project that the candidate would like to develop during the workshop. This description should outline the proposal concept and any artists that the applicant is considering. Also required are a current 250-word bio and a 500-word letter of intent, outlining how the applicant sees the workshop impacting on their curatorial career.     Negotiating Routes: Ecologies of the Byways- Part IV

    Applications are open to Indian nationals and foreigners residing in India for a long term. Khoj is inviting applications from artists, artists groups or professionals for the Negotiating Routes: Ecologies of the Byways – Part IV project. The Negotiating Routes project aims to create an alternative road map of places in India where artists and communities have come together to address issues pertaining to the regeneration of the local ecology of the cities or villages that they inhabit. All projects proposals must tackle issues of ecology and should have an interdisciplinary approach that emphasizes both research and community engagement. Projects should be site-specific and should preferably be located in peri-urban or rural places within India. Project proposals must address visible and invisible transformations currently taking place in the proposed sites. The project must be completed sometime between March - June 2013, within 8 - 12 weeks from the date of commencement.     Open call for applications - UNIDEE in Residence 12 June - 12 October 2013

    UNIDEE – University of Ideas is Cittadellarte's international pole of formation and exchange between knowledge and diverse problematics, open to a varied and multidisciplined group of creatives, professional people and students. Here art abandons the conventional canons and instead places itself to integrate with society and with other disciplines: communication, production, economics, politic, architecture, design, literature, music, spirituality, ecology and nourishment.  UNIDEE in Residence runs for four months - from June to October - to explore the rapport between art and society and to investigate methodologies of creative interventions able to activate projects for a socially responsible change in society.  Unidee in residence forms a new professional skill: that of “activator” of projects for a Responsible Transformation of Society, which reunites the characteristics and skills of the artist, curator, cultural enterpreneur and social-projects manager.  At Cittadellarte the residents acquire a professional creative dimension that is productive and socially relevant, capable of responsibly confronting the problematics of real society and that offers innovative proposals to companies and administrations in different contexts.  Deadline for application: 22.01.2013 Follow the link for full details on how to apply

    Cda-Projects Grant for Artistic Research and Production

    Cda-Projects Grant for Artistic Research and Production: Cda-Projects Grant is offering a 10,000 Euro grant to support the production of an artistic research project. Projects: The grant aims at supporting and opening up discussions on artistic research to an expanded network through an open call. It encourages speculative approaches to how discourse is staged and how knowledge is produced, rethought and interwoven across disciplines. Without any limitations on the content, the proposed inquiries are expected to suggest new forms and methodologies by reflecting on contexts and conditions of the knowledge produced.
