Benon Lutaaya, is a Ugandan born artist. He holds a Bachelor of Vocational Studies in Art and Design with Education. Presently he lives and works in South Africa. He’s a full time international resident artist based at Bag Factory Artists’Studios - Newtown, Johannesburg. He is a talented painter who is quite adept with a variety of mediums although, it is collage art where he excels the most. It is as he says, “his first love”. He is actively involved in a variety of young artists’ initiatives in Johannesburg including Assemblage Visual Arts Organization, as awell as the Creative Block Project. He has experience working with vulnerable children and youths both in Uganda and in the poor townships of Johannesburg. He is passionate about sharing his creative skills and techniques with the community. Benon has been featured in a number of international online art magazines and media including the collagista magazine in Paris, www.artistaday.com, www.ugpulse.com, wordpress, the BBC, South African Broadcasting corporation, the Times newspaper.
