2010 project by adela goldbard from Mexico
On the Road project revives the iconic text by Kerouac in contemporary Mexico. It’s a reinterpretation of the highway by means of landscape interventions with objects found in dumps, transformed into reflecting sculptures, and photographed.
Adela Goldbard (Mexico City, 1979) has a BA in Hispanic Literature (UNAM) and numerous studies in Photography (Escuela Activa and Centro de la Imagen, Mexico City). Her work has been exhibited in Moscow, Den Hague, New York, Washington, Berlin and widely in Mexico (solo shows at: Museo Arocena, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo SLP, Museo de Arte de SINaloa, Galería Enrique Guerrero, La Galería LMI, Alianza Francesa Polanco). In 2007 she was awarded the First Prize at the Biennial Monterrey Femsa, in 2006 she was selected for the Photography Biennial (Centro de la Imagen), in 2009, for PhotoEspaña Descubrimientos, and in 2005, she obtained a Honorable Mention in the Young Art National Encounter. In 2008 she did an artistic residency at l’Ecole Supérieure d’Art et Design de Saint-Étienne. In 2005 she was awarded the Jóvenes Creadores Grant, in 2008, The Tierney Fellowship, and during 2010 her project, On The Road, was produced through the Programa de Fomento y Coinversiones a Proyectos, Fonca funding. Her work has been widely published in Mexico, where she lives and works, both as an artist and as a university lecturer (ENPEG). www.adelagoldbard.com
